When selecting meat, be extra careful.
Make sure that it is fresh, free of brown or green spots and physical
hazards.
If the meat has a strong odor it means that it
is old and spoiling. This is especially true of fish.
Place all meats in plastic bags and keep them
away from other items in your cart, especially fresh fruits,
vegetables, and ready to eat products.
Remember the meat drippings may contain
pathogens that can contaminate other foods. Meat has to remain
cold so pick it up last.
